20th Anniversary Showcase of Talent - OPEN AUDITIONS
Co-directed by Jackie Ceithamer and Tashona Smith

For a 20th consecutive year, the Monroe Arts Center is proud to host this event which showcases southern Wisconsin’s and northern Illinois’s wealth of talented individuals and groups in an evening of family entertainment. In addition, some of your favorite acts from the previous nineteen years will return to the Showcase stage. With Big Radio’s own Dan Blum as Master of Ceremonies, Showcase of Talent will be presented in the same vein as a radio-type variety show, complete with vocal and instrumental musical entertainment, jokes, commercial jingles, a few surprises, and house band.

Is there a hidden talent that you'd like to share with others besides just your family and friends? Then the Showcase of Talent is your chance to do so. This is a wonderful opportunity for a talent to be both seen and heard, as it will be performed for both a radio-listening and studio audience. All interested individuals with performing arts talents are encouraged to audition.

Audition Information:
Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Auditions are open to all ages and size groups (solo, duo, trio, etc.). Showcase of Talent is not a "children's" talent show. Children are welcome to audition.

• The directors are seeking acts that are primarily auditory and translate well to a radio-listening audience, but ALL types of acts will be considered such as: variety, novelty, comedy, musical: vocal (all genres, styles), instrumental (all genre, styles), groups, soloists, ensembles, etc. Acts that are “out-of-the-ordinary” are especially welcome.

•  Vocalists are welcome to prepare and perform two different styles, theme, etc. of songs. If needed, bring your sheet music for accompaniment. If you do not have an accompanist, a pianist will be on-hand at auditions. Accompaniment CDs are not allowed.

• Come well-prepared and audition as if at the performance. Vocalists should have lyrics memorized. If you have background singers for your act, they must also audition as part of your act.

• If you are auditioning as a band you must coordinate audition load-in and setup details with Monroe Arts Center one week prior to your audition. Musicians must provide their own audio or audio equipment (amps, guitar cables, mics, etc.) at the auditions.

• An individual may audition for a maximum of two acts. Acts must be no more than five (5) minutes in length.

• If a "costume" is relevant to your performance, please wear it at your audition.

• If you are selected to be in the Showcase, attendance at both rehearsals is MANDATORY.

•
If you have potential conflicts with rehearsal or performance dates, please inform the directors at auditions. You will be notified of audition results within three weeks.

Rehearsals and performances will be held on four consecutive evenings.
Mandatory Rehearsals: Wednesday and Thursday, January 10 and 11, 2018
Performances: Friday and Saturday, January 12 and 13, 2018
