High School Students and Adults

Kathy Kinga craftsman, artist and teacher lives just outside Monroe, WI. King’s love for art making started at a very young age making mud ashtrays for her parents at 4, her first oil painting at the age of 12. That art making passion continues today and has expanded over the years to include painting, pottery, medal smithing, welding and woods.

King's curiosity for problem solving will forever keep her busy learning a new technique and perfecting her skills. As a painter she prefers painting with watercolor and acrylic mediums. As a potter enjoys manipulating a thrown form created on the potter’s wheel, creating both functional and sculptural ceramic pieces with recurring themes. As a welder creates both functional and sculptural pieces to include furniture pieces. King is well known since 1996 for her watercolor paintings and print series of Monroe Wisconsin always with a twist to include: history, what is new, what changed, what it is known for, and its traditions. You will find several of her murals at Baumgartner's Tavern and Cheese shop downtown Monroe as well as other places in the area. King can be found most days in her studio creating art since retiring from teaching Art at Monroe High School in 2019. She continues to teach classes and workshops in the Monroe area, takes on commission work in all mediums, as well as sells her artwork at art fairs, shops and galleries.
