Off the Beaten Path
by Gary Pearson

Sunday, June 27, 2021 through Thursday, November 11, 2021
Monroe Clinic Galleries

As a photographer I adhere to the “Closed Loop philosophy” and do not get caught up in the latest photography fads of having my photos shipped off to a digital lab to be printed on canvas, wood, metal, glass, or other exotic material. The “Closed Loop philosophy” means the photographer does everything within the means of his equipment, I do all of my own photography, limited computer processing, printing, cutting my mattes, mounting, and build all of my own frames using wood from locally sourced, family owned lumber mills.

Photography has been a hobby of mine for most of my life. Since my retirement I have become even more involved with my photography. I am mostly a self-taught artist. I grew up watching my father using his cameras (I still occasionally use two of his film cameras), attending classes and workshops, and reading a lot of photography books. I focus mainly on landscapes and nature photography. I love visiting the national parks, hiking, traveling the backroads, and finding off the beaten path locations to get my shots.  I take pride in my work and I'm also proud of the fact that I have my photography hanging in homes/offices in Germany, France, Brazil, Canada, and in the USA, coast to coast and north to south.
