"Sometimes the beauty at hand shouts to us for recognition, more often it is subtle, waiting to be recognized.
"Other times it is we who must create the beauty from within ourselves, enlivening a white sheet of paper, by following the colors, tone, and design of the media as the creation leads us to its completion," comments Janesville, Wisconsin watercolor artist Connie Glowacki.
She adds, "I am the vessel, distilling the composition through my personality, and pouring it out on a surface for other people to reflect upon."
With images based upon her slides, photos, and imagination, Glowacki allows her personality and emotions to shape her creativity as she combines images, compositions, and values.
A fascination with light and shadow as they define shape and textures has led Glowacki to continually create a wider scope of subject matter.
Her ability to create the appearance of light passing through sheer fabric, light gleaming from a porch at midnight, or shadows cast down a wooden pier illuminating boats in the harbor, transport the viewer of her artwork to a special place in time or a fleeting memory.
