Three Wisconsin artists apply woodburning, painting, staining, dyes, and a variety of natural elements to a most unlikely canvas...the simple gourd.
From a humble fruit-bearing vine springs forth art in the form of bowls, vases, boxes, rainsticks, wallhangings, masks, and dolls.
These artists, each with a rich and diverse impression of this medium, show that gourds are limitless in their in adaptability to any art form and hold boundless possibilities.
This exhibit reveals why the gourd is considered one of nature's greatest gifts to mankind.
They can be found in many and varied shapes and colors, and when dried and cleaned, each one seems to come alive with a life of it's own—only to be enhanced by the artist's imagination.
From the garden to the gallery, gourds are truly "nature's pottery."
