Theatreworks' exciting musical tells the stories of Tutankhamen, the "boy king" who ruled Egypt in the 14th century B.C., and Howard Carter, the archaeologist who made him famous by discovering his tomb in 1922.

Our authors began with the grain of fact about Tut's life that has survived thousands of years, but had to do a bit of storytelling in order to fill in the historical gaps (including the cause of his death, which continues to be debated among scholars).

The result is a compelling tale of two men looking to leave their marks on history in two very different worlds.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION:
Theatreworks USA, founded in 1961, is America's foremost professional theatre for young and family audiences.

Its goal is to create imaginative and sophisticated shows that are educational, entertaining and thought provoking.

Theatreworks was recognized by New York's theatre community with the prestigious Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Awards for providing 35 years of quality entertainment to children.

Originating with Young Abe Lincoln, Theatreworks now has a body of work encompassing more than 90 plays and musicals created by both noted as well as fledgling playwrights, composers, and lyricists.

Performing at home in New York and touring across the country to theatres, arts centers and schools, Theatreworks has performed for approximately 59 million people in 39 states, with an annual audience of more than four million.

Theatreworks USA's goal is to continue doing what they have successfully accomplished for more than forty years: giving America's children their first thrilling day at the theatre!
