This class will explore improvisation techniques and games in a supportive environment. We will encourage students to be spontaneous and creative, while enhancing listening and reacting skills. Students will work collaboratively with other students and teachers to explore the concepts and skills of improv in order to create a foundation to become the next great improv star! No prior experience is required.

Ashley Whitehurst

Ashley is a graduate of iO and Second City Conservatory and Music Conservatory, and currently teaches at Second City Training Center and elsewhere in the Chicagoland area. She’s also a writer, performer, director, producer, and podcaster. She’s very bad at boasting, so she put it all here for you (yes, you!) to read: www.ashleywhitehurst.com. When she’s not working a day job or doing comedy stuff, she plays video games, runs, reads, thinks about sports, plays piano, and tries to help her dog understand that her cat sister absolutely does not want to play with her.

 Jackie Wiles

Jackie hails from the “Mitten” state and is a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a BA in theatre performance. She currently resides in Chicago with her cat, Trigger. Jackie has performed at the former iO Theater and at Second City and she frequently performs pieces from her one woman show, Filthy Millennial on the Trident Comedy Network’s, The Elevator Showcase. You can stay up to date with what Jackie’s doing by checking out www.jackiewilesactor.com. When Jackie isn’t being a nanny or an actor,  you can find her sitting at home and trying to justify that it’s okay to eat a half dozen donuts in one day…or one hour.

This class is designed for students from 6th grade to 12th grade.
