Joan Horgan Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Joan Horgan Memorial Fund was established to ensure that every child or adult who wishes to attend art or music classes at MAC would have the opportunity to do so regardless of their ability to pay. As an art teacher, Joan understood the importance of providing every individual the opportunity to express themselves and develop their creativity.

Joan Horgan is the mother of Monroe Arts Center Executive Director, Kathy Hennessy. Joan established and for many years taught the art program at St. Louise de Marillac School located outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Joan also took art classes throughout her life and participated in many juried art shows. Originally funded by members of the MAC Board of Directors, The Joan Horgan Memorial Fund was established to honor Joan’s artistic life and the creative impact she had on those around her.

The Monroe Arts Center is proud to have the opportunity to support individual creativity and offer scholarships to support area students in their own creative exploration and expression. Partial or full scholarships are granted to those who self-identify as needing tuition support and who would not ordinarily be able to afford to participate in art enrichment courses.
