In July, 1974, Peg Stiles received a phone call where an acquaintance asked, “Can’t something be done to save that lovely little church on the hill in Monroe?” The Old Methodist Church was in danger of being raised to build an apartment building on the desirable land close to the town center. So began the journey to “save the church” and provide a home for the arts and other activities.
