PAM HIATT

Artist Statement

I am a daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma (Mimi!), but I wasn’t fully ME until I became an artist. When I hold a paintbrush in my hand, I have a true, quiet joy in my heart.  It’s a feeling akin to meditation; comfort, peace, confidence in my place in the world and wonder at the beauty in it.

I was born and raised in Dubuque, IA.   I worked as a mail carrier for 33 years and retired in 2013.  After taking painting lessons at our local art museum, I was hooked!  I have used many resources over the years to learn and hone my skills. I now hope to expand my presence online.  My work is hanging in our artist’s co-op called The Collective in Elkader,IA.  I have also sold paintings through local shows and at our yearly “Bluff Strokes Paint Out”.  I am a member of PPODs (Plein Air Painters Of Dubuque), spending many hours painting outdoors, on site. I also belong to Iowa Artists, Oil Painters Of America, American Women Artists. National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society, Missouri Valley Impressionist Society and American Impressionists Society.

I have had my work hanging at: Carnegie Stout Public Library, Adler Theater, Weyland Gallery, Bisignana Art Gallery, Galena Center For The Arts, Art Domestique Gallery, Sanford Museum (solo show), Smokestack Art Gallery, and am part of Iowa Artists Traveling Art Show.
